Sunday 30th June 2007 - Kirkcaldy, Broxburn - Annual East of Scotland Boyne Celebrations with LOL 66 Kirkcaldy.

Today it was once again our honour to lead the Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy lodges of East Fife District, to the County Grand Lodge of the East demonstration.

Our first parade of the day was in Glenrothes, as per, round the roundabouts, secondly we marched through Kirkcaldy from the Volunteers Green to the Cenotaph.  A short act of remembrance, during which we played Highland Cathedral, was led by the WM of 'The Sons of William'.  After the National Anthem we boarded our buses for the journey to Broxburn.

Congratulations to the organisers, you cannot (in my opinion) beat a parade that forms up in one field, then proceeds down a straight road to another, with no detours through housing schemes.  There were good crowds the whole route and the cross was something special.

The districts evening parades were firstly in Kennoway and then Buckhaven. Unfortunately the weather put a bit of a dampener on both of these marches, however the Band endeavoured to give it our best whatever the conditions.

After the National Anthem we adjourned to a local hall for the evening's entertainment. This opened with a first class buffet, that went down a treat, the grub is always great in Fife. As well as the disco the three bands accompanying the district played a set each, the Pride of the North, Pride of Govan and ourselves (Cambuslang Britannia).  Every set was well received by the large appreciative crowd.

During the night the District Master announced that East Fife would host the rally in 2009, with the parade being held in Kirkcaldy.  Several members of Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes lodges expressed there hope that our 13 years with them would extend through 2009 and beyond.

As always the 'Brits' had a great day out, we paraded our full colour party leading 5 side drummers, 2 bass drummers, a cymbal player and 14 fluters.  In the evening we were joined by two of the boys who had been working during the day, well done lads.  The standard over the full day was top rate.

As ever our thanks to Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy for a tremendous day out.
